O’Dorisio Joins NET Task Force

Tom O’Dorisio, MD, Professor in Endocrinology and Metabolism, has been appointed to the Neuroendocrine (NET) Task Force of the NIH’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) Gastrointestinal Steering Committee. Dr. O’Dorisio will serve a three-year term on the NET Task Force. The Steering Committee was established by the NCI in order to ensure alignment of clinical trials in adult gastrointestinal cancers. The committee also reviews and evaluates trial design to aid the NCI in oversight and management of their national effort.

The Gastrointestinal Steering Committee is divided into task forces based on disease subtype: colon, pancreatic, esophagogastric, hepatobiliary, rectal-anal, and neuroendocrine. As Director of the NET Clinics at University of Iowa Health Care and a member of the only NET SPORE in the country, Dr. O’Dorisio is a fitting representative on this task force. He will participate in a variety of clinical trial planning meetings over the course of his term.
