New Faculty Additions – July-August 2019

The Department of Internal Medicine would like to introduce our newest members who joined in the months of July and August (start dates in parentheses). We are pleased to welcome them to the department.


Amberker~RachanaRachana Amberker, MBBS – Associate (8-27-19)

Dr. Rachana Amberker joins the Division of General Internal Medicine from her residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her MBBS from the S.S. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in Davangere, India. Dr. Amberker has clinical and research interests in oncology and immunology. In her spare time, Dr. Amberker enjoys reading, traveling, and trekking.


Hoffman~AmandaAmanda Hoffman, MD – Clinical Assistant Professor (7-31-19)

Dr. Amanda Hoffman has joined the Division of General Internal Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Hoffman received her MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine here at Iowa. Her clinical and research interests include women’s health and quality improvement. Outside of work, Dr. Hoffman enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.


Klein~MIchaelMichael Klein, MD – Clinical Assistant Professor (7-31-19)

Dr. Michael Klein joins the Division of General Internal Medicine as a Clinical Associate Professor from his residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He also received his MD from the Carver College of Medicine here. Dr. Klein’s clinical interests focus on primary care and acute care medicine. His hobbies include running, cycling, listening to podcasts, and watching Iowa football and basketball.


Kshetri~RupeshRupesh Kshetri, MBBS, MAS – Associate (7/15/19)

Dr. Rupesh Kshetri joined the Division of General Internal Medicine as an Associate after earning his MAS in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Dr. Kshetri received his MBBS from Nepal Medical College in Kathmandu, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Bronx, New York. Dr. Kshetri’s clinical interests include cardiovascular diseases. His research examines cardiovascular diseases, patient safety, and healthcare quality. Outside of work, Dr. Kshetri enjoys playing with his toddler son, watching movies, and reading.
