Adrian Holm, DO, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Mark Wolcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Delivery. The Wolcott Award for Excellence is presented by the US Department of Veterans Affairs to a healthcare practitioner in a leadership or management position who has demonstrated excellence through exceptional support for direct patient care providers, including support of innovations enhancing the quality of direct patient care delivery. This award is the highest honor given to providers in the VA Health Care System (VA HCS).
Holm is the Section Chief for Gastroenterology at the Iowa City VA HCS. This award recognizes Holm for his outstanding care delivery in providing expert, timely, and compassionate advanced endoscopic services for our Veteran population.
Bradley Dixon, MD, is the Chief of Medicine at the VA HCS. In sharing the news of this award, he wrote:
Dr. Holm’s extraordinary, unique clinical expertise and quality record in advanced endoscopy has allowed Veterans unprecedented timely access to state-of-the-art preventive and palliative endoscopic procedures at the Iowa City VA HCS. His timeliness of access surpasses that available in the private sector, and many of his complex procedures are not available at most VA centers. Dr. Holm emulates exemplary VA ICARE values and professionalism in his interactions with Veterans, their families, and members of the health care team as well as trainees. His exemplary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in endoscopy and his unmatched dedication and tireless efforts to advance complex endoscopic services for Veterans have significantly elevated the quality of Gastroenterology care delivered at our facility.
Holm is also a clinical associate professor in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at University of Iowa Health Care, where he serves as program director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship.
