Dowden elected to AAAAI education leadership role

Amy Dowden, MD, clinical associate professor in Immunology and associate program director for the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Program, has been elected to a two-year term as the Internal Medicine Councilor on the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) Program Directors Assembly (PDA).

In this role she will serve on the Executive Committee of this Assembly, joining key leaders from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, University of Arizona College of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai and Emory University School of Medicine. This group oversees operational, as well as strategic initiatives of the assembly, and serves as the planning committee for the yearly winter retreat.

Dowden will also continue her leadership roles as rising Chair of the Core Curriculum, Education and Residency Review Subcommittee of the PDA and the In-training Exam Committee. She joins Allergy/Immunology Program Director and current AAAAI President Mary Beth Fasano, MD, in a leadership role with the national organization. Immunology Division Director Scott Vogelgesang, MD, called it “a big deal.”
