Livorsi Earns Career Development Award

Dr. Dan Livorsi, Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases (ID), has successfully obtained a five-year Career Development Award from the Veterans Health Administration. Set to begin in July of this year, this award will fund 75% of his salary.

Dr. Livorsi will study strategies for implementing antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals that lack local ID physicians. Antimicrobial stewardship programs are now mandated across all hospitals; these programs seek to minimize unnecessary antimicrobial use while optimizing treatment when antimicrobials are indicated. Many hospitals have no access to ID specialists, and it is unclear how stewardship is best practiced in these resource-limited settings.

Congratulations to Dr. Livorsi on this well-deserved award and best of luck in this important research!
