Johnson wins GME teaching award

Krista Johnson, MD, MME, clinical associate professor in General Internal Medicine, is one of the 2019 recipients of the Excellence in Clinical Coaching award. Johnson was presented with her award along with her co-winners and recipients of other GME teaching awards earlier this week.

Below are quotes from colleagues and trainees who supported Johnson’s nomination for this award.

“Dr. Johnson is an enthusiastic and passionate educator for residents and students at all levels. She goes above and beyond to ensure that clinic is always educational for us as learners while also empowering us as the primary care provider.”

“She is an excellent clinical educator and goes out of her way to teach physical exam skills, management of chronic conditions and how to deal with acute outpatient issues.”

“She has been a mentor to me and many other residents about quality improvement and how to implement QI projects in our resident clinics.”

“She has made me a better outpatient physician and I feel confident in my outpatient skills that have developed under her mentorship.”

“Her dedication to the patients she serves and her attention to detail in education is remarkable. She takes a personal interest in all of those whom she mentors.”

“She makes her learner feel important and never misses a teaching opportunity. Her love for teaching only became more evident as I progressed through residency, and now that I am about to start my own independent practice, I can only hope to emulate that passion.”
