Internal Medicine has an “impact”

In its effort to recognize our superlative scholarship, the Carver College of Medicine has launched a new category of honor, similar to its Wall of Scholarship. The Impact Scholars will be selected based on their h-index score, a calculation that measures scholarly productivity and the number of citations that work receives.

In May, the college will formally recognize 47 members of its faculty as the inaugural members of the Impact Scholars. Only three of those members will be categorized at the “Gold Level” with h-index scores of 100 or higher, one of whom is Michael Welsh, MD, professor of internal medicine. The other 14 members with primary appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine at the “Silver Level” with h-index scores of 50 or higher are listed below.
