Internal Medicine Employee Appreciation Day

Providing plenty of food and collegiality, the Department celebrated its staff and faculty on Employee Appreciation Day this Tuesday, marking the tenth anniversary of the event. Organized by Human Resources Staff, the luncheon brought together all the Divisions within the Department to recognize the combined efforts of around 1,000 employees that allow the Department to function successfully.

In acknowledgment of individual careers with the Department, each employee was named on a banner alongside the number of years of his or her continuous service. As Dr. Dale Abel, Chair and DEO, pointed out in his mid-celebration address, the banner adds up to cumulative centuries of experience that have made the Department what it is today.

Approximately 600 employees attended, and all the leftover food was donated immediately after the event to the Salvation Army, which feeds a minimum of 75 people in the Iowa City area every day. The Department extends a warm thank-you to Human Resources for organizing the event, and to each employee for the work you do every day.
