Heart and Vascular Center, Open House, 9/13

Today marks the official opening day for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s new Heart and Vascular Center (HVC). Years in the planning and in construction, the HVC has been readying to open its doors with a number of events and promotions. One promotion was the creation of brief interview clips with key members of the HVC. (You can watch that playlist of videos on the UIHC YouTube page here.)

The afternoon before the ribbon cutting and public open house, the HVC hosted an employee-only tour of the 30,000-square-foot facility. Guests got to inspect the glowing artistic display of generous donor names, the new procedure rooms, conference and work rooms, and even take in the view that patients undergoing stress tests will have of Kinnick Stadium. They also learned about how innovative team-building and morale-boosting practices, like a regularly updated “huddle board,” will allow the HVC staff to improve on their already-stellar care.

Congratulations to every member of the HVC redesign team, from the designers and builders to the care providers, whose input and effort produced this incredible new space and effected a smooth transition without missing a beat.
