Dale Shanklin joins Internal Medicine Human Resources team

The Internal Medicine Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the addition of Dale Shanklin, MS, to the team as an HR associate. Shanklin joins us from Purdue University, where he was working as a Residence Education Coordinator in the university’s Department of Resident Life. In that role he helped hire, train, supervise, and coach student employees in addition to managing the building’s operational budget. Shanklin was also responsible for teaching a leadership course each year, while participating in continuous reviews and adjustments to the department’s training sessions, workshops, and on-boarding processes.

While pursuing his Master of Science in Higher Education Administration at Florida State University, Shanklin also worked as a leadership and engagement coordinator for University Housing, advising student organizations, organizing and hosting leadership retreats, and helping to build and deliver a state-wide student leadership conference for 500 participants. Before this Shanklin received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Boise State University.

New to the area, Shanklin says he’s looking forward to exploring Iowa City more and would “love to hear any recommendations for local food spots!” In his spare time he enjoys playing the guitar and piano, walking and hiking. Shanklin says he is excited to join our department and getting to know everyone more. Over the next few weeks he will be meeting with key members of the department and quickly getting up to speed with our operations. Human Resources Director Rethy Krishnamurthy says, “We are thrilled to add Dale to our team. His experience in higher education and working with large departments will allow him to hit the ground running in Internal Medicine.”
