Gastroenterology Fellowship Graduation, 5/21/17

At the University Club on a Sunday evening, the members, friends, and family of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology joined to celebrate the achievements and next steps of three graduates of the Gastroenterology Fellowship: Drs. Subhash Chandra, Arvind Rangarajan Murali, and Mahmoud Soubra.

The evening began with an hour of cocktails and conversation, introductions and posing for photographs. Department Chair Dr. Dale Abel made an appearance as well, offering his congratulations to the graduating fellows.

Led by Fellowship Director Dr. Adrian Holm and Assistant Director Dr. Mariam Naveed, the presentation that followed began with words of gratitude to all of the GI faculty for their mentorship and guidance of the fellows, but also to Division Coordinator Hilary Humphrey and Administrative Services Coordinator Carole Kern. Dr. Holm also explained to guests just how much work the fellows had performed over the past three years.

When introducing each graduating fellow, Dr. Holm also described some little-known fact about each and offered a funny gift to match. Dr. Chandra received a T-shirt declaring his immense capacity for staying “cool as a cucumber” under pressure. For Dr. Murali, who had recently begun a new fitness regimen, a T-shirt showing some “abs.” And Dr. Soubra was assured that his new plush stress doll would help in some difficult future moments.

Division Director Dr. David Elliott described the namesake of the Dr. Robert Summers Outstanding Teaching Award and what his abilities as an educator meant to him personally. The fellows presented this year’s award to Dr. Randhir Jesudoss with their deep appreciation. Each fellow then offered words of thanks to the rest of the division for their time and the lessons that they would always carry with them.

Congratulations to this year’s graduating class and special thanks to Dr. Huy Tran for the additional terrific photographs.
